The water came up to her ankles
It had been creeping closer every day. In the depth of her heart she knew it and feared it, but for no apparent reason she felt frozen in place. Unable to move or take any action to prevent the inevitable.
There were times when she thought she knew what to do and even felt good about doing it. But then the water inched closer and she froze again.
If she allowed herself to be honest. She knew a time would come when the water would go higher. If she didn’t find a way to stop it and reverse the flow she would drown.
